City of Shepherdsville Mourns the Passing of Councilman Michael Alan Hibbard Sr.

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. — The City of Shepherdsville is deeply saddened by the passing of Councilman Michael Alan “Mike” Hibbard Sr., who entered eternal rest on June 27, 2026, at the age of 77.
Councilman Hibbard faithfully served the citizens of Shepherdsville for many years, including his current fourth term on the Shepherdsville City Council. Throughout his years of public service, he was a steadfast advocate for the community, dedicating countless hours to improving the quality of life for Shepherdsville residents.
A proud United States Army veteran, Mike served his country honorably after enlisting in 1968, spending much of his military service in Korea and Germany. Following his military service, he built a successful career in logistics before devoting himself to public service and community leadership.
Beyond his role on the City Council, Mike was actively involved throughout Bullitt County. He served as Treasurer of the Bullitt County Republican Party, was an active member of the Bullitt County Chamber of Commerce, served on numerous community boards, was a dedicated member of American Legion Post 157, chaired and co-chaired the Buckman Street Beautification Committee, and passionately supported organizations including Mark12 Ministries and Grace Village.
Mayor Jose Cubero shared the following statement:
“Mike loved Shepherdsville and dedicated much of his life to serving this community. He approached public service with humility, integrity, and a genuine desire to make our city better for future generations. His leadership, friendship, and unwavering commitment will be deeply missed by all of us who had the privilege to serve alongside him. On behalf of the City of Shepherdsville, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Karen, his children, grandchildren, extended family, and all who knew and loved Mike.”
The City Council and City staff extend their deepest sympathies to Mike’s wife, Karen, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 4895 N. Preston Highway, Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Perry Cooke.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, memorial contributions may be made to Mark12 Ministries or Grace Village in Mike’s honor.
